Creative Assistance Program · Active

When something is standing in the way, start here.

Creative work doesn't stop needing support just because the idea is good.

CAP gives creatives a place to ask HOME for help with defined needs that may be getting in the way of their creative work, development, or the business behind it.

From production resources and creative-business support to qualifying hardship requests, HOME reviews each request to understand the need and determine what assistance may be possible.

Why CAP

Sometimes the barrier isn't talent.

A studio session. A registration. A business resource. An unexpected hardship.

Sometimes the thing keeping a creative from moving forward has less to do with their ability and more to do with access.

CAP exists to give creatives a place to bring those needs to HOME.

We can't promise that every request can be funded or fulfilled, but we can create a clear place to ask—and work to build more ways to help.

What Can I Ask For?

Start with the need—not a fixed menu.

These examples show the kinds of requests CAP may review. They are not guaranteed benefits, an exhaustive list, or a promise that every request can be fulfilled.

Creative Business

Strengthen the business behind the work.

Approved assistance may connect a creative to resources such as:

  • Registration assistance
  • HOME administrative support
  • Eligible HOME platform access or benefits, including HOME Premium where appropriate
  • Other approved creative-business needs

Creative Production

Help a defined project keep moving.

Approved production assistance may include:

  • Studio time
  • Other defined creative or project resources HOME is able to support

Studio time is one example of assistance CAP has provided. Availability still depends on the request and HOME's current resources.

Hardship + Other Needs

Bring the barrier to HOME.

CAP can also receive requests where personal hardship or another defined barrier is affecting a creative's ability to move forward.

Requests are reviewed individually based on the need and HOME's available resources and capacity. No income threshold, automatic eligibility, or guaranteed financial assistance is implied.

Don't see your need listed? CAP is designed around the request, not just a fixed menu of benefits. Every request is still subject to review and available capacity.

How CAP Works

A clear place to ask. A responsible path to help.

CAP is the assistance program. HOME Grants is the application and intake experience used to submit the request.

Tell us what you need

Apply through HOME Grants and explain the barrier, resource, or assistance you're requesting.

HOME reviews the request

HOME considers the need, available resources, and whether there is a responsible way for us to help.

We identify the assistance path

An approved request might connect to a HOME resource, administrative service, available funding, partner resource, or another appropriate support path. As HOME Campaigns comes online, certain approved needs may also become eligible for community-funded support.

HOME helps steward the support

Where assistance is approved, HOME works to connect the resource or support to the defined need.

More Ways to Help

More ways to say yes.

CAP began when HOME's ability to help was largely shaped by what the organization could purchase or provide directly.

As HOME builds more of its own creative infrastructure, the ways we can support creatives can grow too.

Access to HOME tools, administrative assistance, registrations, creative resources, community-funded needs, and other forms of support can increasingly become part of how HOME helps remove barriers.

Some of these paths are still developing, and every request remains subject to review and available capacity.

Contributions through this giving option support CAP generally. The $10, $80, and $240 examples in the giving experience illustrate potential impact; they are not restricted sponsorships, purchases, or guarantees that a contribution will fund a particular person or item.

Support Creative Assistance

CAP + the HOME Platform

Support can go further when the infrastructure is already here.

HOME is building tools and services around the real needs of independent creatives.

That means CAP can increasingly do more than help pay for an outside resource. In appropriate cases, assistance can connect directly to HOME tools, administrative support, and other infrastructure already built around the creative's work.

This is one way HOME's platform and nonprofit mission reinforce each other.

Platform access or support through CAP is not automatic. What may be available depends on the approved need and the capabilities HOME can responsibly provide.

Some needs can become something the community helps solve.

HOME Campaigns is being designed to connect approved creative needs with people who want to help fund them.

CAP will remain the place where creatives request assistance. For appropriate needs, Campaigns can provide a future public-support path while HOME helps steward how that support connects to the stated need.

The goal is greater confidence for everyone involved: creatives have a structured place to ask for help, and supporters can better understand what their contribution is intended to accomplish.

Coming Soon. Campaign creation, public funding, sponsorship transactions, and CAP-to-Campaigns routing are not currently available.

That's CAP

Help where it can make a difference.

This 60-second film shows how HOME historically communicated CAP through creative production, practical support, and conversations around a defined need.

It reflects examples of CAP's work—not a promise that every request or form of assistance shown will be available today.

Start with CAP

Tell HOME what's standing in the way.

Submit the defined need through HOME Grants. HOME will review the request and determine what assistance may be possible based on the need and available resources.
